Alright, this is going to be my second computer I am building so I just want to make sure everything is going to be compatible together. Thanks for your help, I'm open to suggestions also!
Thanks,

AHANIX Audi XP case
SOYO SK-400 Dragon Ultra MOBO
2x AMD Athlon 2400/266 FSB Processor's
Radeon 8500
ASUS DVR-104 DVD-RW Drive
MAxtor 80 GB HD
Antec P4 350 Watt Power Supply
sk-400? 2x XP processors?
Is this a dual cpu motherboard or something?
If so then you will need more than a 350W PSU.
Also, for a bit of extra performance, switch the maxtor 80Gb drive with a W.D. 800JB.
I have both the maxtor 80 and the 800JB and i can say for certain the 800JB is the better performer.

So it is a dualie huh?
Im not exactly sure. Dualies are strange beasts.

Question: WY do you think you need a dualie anyway? Do u have or are you getting any software that is specially optimised for dual CPU's?

Absolutely not. For games, u will only use 1 proc. In addition, u need to buy software that's optimized for dual processors, and there u never get 200% performance of a single proc system. Rather, the MAX u'll get is (if u're lucky and it's heavily optimized) up to 150% perfomance of a single proc system. Might as well go for a single proc imo and oc it.

Dualies do have however whats called the delicious feel of dualie goodness.
If a corrupted application hogs all of a CPU then your system will still run smooth while you terminate it using the other, and you can run two cpu intensive apps at once. General smoothness is also improved due to always having a second CPU at hand.
However for most the price and complexity of dualies is too much. Far better getting a single CPU.
NOTE: often you will get more out of say 1xXP2000+ than a board sporting dual MP2000+'s as the single board is optimised towards games and the like. Adittionally dual cpu chipsets are usually older...they have a far longer product cycle time, so you may miss out on USB2.0 and all the other up to date doo-dads.

Isn't there a jumper trick you can do to make an XP work like an MP?

I did some research and it's the fourth bridge on L5 that needs to be closed.

I wouldn't bother with any VIA chipset when other companies make ones that are so much better. Use the nForce2 as an example, not only is it deviod of VIA issues, it beats the KT400 in every benchmark available. Plus you can get it with very powerfull onboard audio.

Well when It's half the price of an MP I figure that I've got more than one shot at making it work before I go over the retail cost of an MP.

Too bad the nForce2 chipset is almost nowhere to get in Holland. Because of that I have to choose a mobo with the KT333 chipset to replace my broken KG7-RAID.

Not to bash via or anything, cause it might not be them, but since I went ahead and bought a SIS board, I have to say that I'm very happy I did so. There are zero stability problems.
There has to be something in what Crashman is saying. Friends who have used via boards have had problems and I know that I've had problems with my parents computer. In my case I'm just not sure if it's via since they live so far away and I haven't had much time to fiddle with it.
I hesitate to blame VIA only because I think it might also have to do with creative. Problems tend to revolve around their sound cards.
Eh... I like my MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU. Works well, has 6 USB 2.0 ports (A NEC controller, not VIA), and has zero stability issues. Since I don't use SB products, I think that helps alot, and the fact that every other part in my system is high quality, without a history of failure, I say I'm pretty well off.
Usually the only BSOD I got was when I used RefreshLock to fix the WinXP 60Hz refresh rate problem. After I dropped that, I haven't had a BSOD in ages. Now, I just have buggy software that screws things up once in a while. Why can't multi-million dollar companies find the time to bug test their software before releasing it to the general public? Its not like I have odd-ball hardware.

The WD800JB is a great little drive. Works well. Performs well. Couldn't tell you about the noise, since I had to place a fan in HDD bay to keep my two HDDs cool.

I know the first Via chipsets where really buggy with some hardware (mainly soundcards). But I didn't have much problems with my mobo's.
Still if there are any other alternetvies for a Socket A chipset with atleast 333MHz FSB and PC2700 support and loads of OC options (I'm thinking of going for the Epox 8K5A2+) with good performance I'm willing to hear them.
