What is the best way to plug 5 IDE device: I have 2 HDD, 1 CDROM, 1 CDRW and 1 ZIP.
I don't really want to use a SCI card.
I don't want to play with RAID mirroring stuf.

I have read that using RAID drive as simple IDE is a little tricky.

Any Advice?

For basic ease, get a Promise PCI UATA66 or 100 controller card. Dead simple and you can add another 4 IDE devices. Cost you less than $30.

I would like to use AMD. I had made my mind on the Tyan Trinity KT-A (S2390B), because it hase a reputation for stability and it's all I need.
Does the ASUS A7V (Non-RAID) has 4 IDE plugs on board? Is it stable? Wil it work without any bugs with Win2000
I also liked the Tyan because it had sound on board...

Hi...in case you want to go for a new mobo, a raid capable will give you 4 IDE slots, you can connect up to 8 IDE devices. I have the Abit KT7A-Raid, have not used the raid capability yet but have spread my devices along the four slots. No problems whatsoever connecting 2 WD200BB disks to the 2 extra IDE slots via Highpoint controller, at ATA100...
