Thats all there is and it will not boot up. I get a good post then freeze. It will let me look around and change in BIOS all day but as soon as I try to format the HD I get locked down. I have tried using the western digital setup disk same result. I have never had this happen before. My hunch is a bad cable but it checked out ok. I am beginning to think the MB may be bad But I do not know how to check that out.

Unfortunately, the only way to tell if a motherboard is bad is to replace different parts one at a time until you figure out the problem. Then if none of them fixes it, then it's most likely a motherboard problem.
So, it may sound tedious, but if you have spare stuff lying around (video card, memory, etc.) or know where you can get it, try replacing things one at a time until you figure out the problem.
That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but sometimes that's the only way to figure it out...
