How can I disable DMA ?

After running sissoft sandra, the tips tell me if I disable DMA it will increase the pc performance.
What is DMA ?
Where can I access it to disable it ?

Maybe he has SCSI(40, 80, 160mb) or PIO4(17mb) mode harddisk.
