everything seems alright...

I'm sorry let me get this straight,

you are asking about technology released in 1983 in June 2011?

no I don't see anything wrong with that, there's just, how many people do you expect to be familiar with the hardware you are talking about?

my guess would be, it's at the end of its life span and some of the capacitors probably no longer hold the charge properly which is why you are seeing such behavior.

solution: go get a modern day gaming console

Modern console gaming isn't in my field of interest. I'm sticking to PC Indie/Simulation games and retro consoles. Especially the Vectrex. I mean, come on! It's a home mini arcade with vector graphics! That's just about the coolest thing ever! :D And even though it's such outdated and old technology, there are tons of working devices and people who collect and care about them around to this day. So there will be someone who can help me for sure!

There could be any number of problems with your Vectrex.
Some questions are:
Does the Vectrex crash just on the built in MineStrom game, or does it crash also with cartridge based games?
When you say freeze, are you saying that the picture literally just freezes - or does the image fade out to a black screen?
Does the crash occur always at the same point in the game?
Does the crash occur always after a set period after switching on the Vectrex?
The best place to answer these questions is on the newsgroup is rec.games.vectrex. One way to access this is via google at

@AntiZig - Vectrex - technology released in 1982, and with new hardware and software continuing to be released to this day!

The vectrex does crash on the built in minestorm as well as on cartrige based games.
By freezing I mean, that the screen goes black instantly and the sound sorta gets stuck...
It crashes after about a minute after the device was turned on. When you try to restart the vectrex right after it crashed, it does so instantly and the longer you wait, the longer you can play... strange.

i will take a look at the link you told me, but just to make sure, I answered the questions in here, maybe you can help me.
Thanks!
