Hell yes.

It just makes me laugh that you people still faithfully use Kazaa even though there's just a pile of jabronies on it renaming movies to whatever the [-peep-] and you waste your times downloading Vice City only to get Driving Miss Daisy.

Ever hear of the eDonkey2k network? It's a little smaller, not as many users, but there is just about every single stinking movie or game image on it. Hear of share reactor? They share all of their media on this network, and people who get it off there first are the ones who end up spreading them on kazaa.

Beat those stupid kazaa users to it and download the best eDonkey2k client at http://www.overnet.com. I have no less than 50 games, 200 movies, and 500 TV shows queued for download right now. It's slower than kazaa, but it consistently uses my max bandwidth. The only down size is that you're forced to share, whether you're on high-speed or dial-up. You can't download without uploading too.

Neat features include:
- temp files are split into 9.5mb files, so that a download-in-progress can still be shared to other users who may not have that particular portion of the file.
- real-time error checking. Correct errors by simply deleting the affected temp file.
- source queuing - it lists about 20 users for each file, displays what their progress on the particular file is, and places you in a queue that you can actually see, so you can tell if you may actually be able to get some more of that porn flick sometime in the future
- speed - Overnet seems to use far less cpu resources than Kazaa ever did.

The only downside is that Overnet doesn't share music as well as kazaa. I still use Kazaa for my MP3s only.

So, instead of Driving Miss Daisy, you can now be driving her over. Get Overnet.

I totally agree with you. I've been using Sharereactor/eDonkey for over a year now and it just can't be beat in terms of getting games/movies/tv shows.

But I still use Kazaa for music and porn.

Kazaa is complete crap. Never get the right thing on there.

Edonkey/Emule/Overnet. It's the only way.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I use Kazaa for almost all my downloading needs. My video section has over 300 files in it, mostly anime episodes, and I have never once gotten porn or whatever. /shrug Oh yeah, and Direct Connect is good too. What I don't get off Kazaa I get there.

My Setup: POS Compaq 5330US
P4 1.7 Ghz
512MB SDRam
Geforce2 MX 400
Creative Soundblaster PCI512
80GB Hard Drive

If you download complete albums, e-donkey is pretty good.

I would, but the complete albums are simply one big MP3. If you burn them to CD, it looks like 1 big track, which is bunk, and if you leave it on your computer, you gotta search through the MP3 to find a song you want. It's more like a high quality cassette than anything else. Who wants that?

Yeah, those suck. What you want to look for is rar and zip files that have complete albums as individual MP3's. Really easy to find.

ok i got that program and it works great

only problem is how do you manually take a file off "queued". i mean queued on my computer not the computer im trying to download from

it seems to take the program like 10 minutes to get to unqueueing the files i have added to the download list

Other than buying the stuff in the stores, Newsgroups are the only way to go. Everything else is a complete pile of [-peep-]. You always get exactly what you want. The files are on the server so you dont have to get disconnected or rely on another persons bandwidth. There is no need to install some crap freeware program on your computer that will potentially cause problems.

Any file you find on sharereactor.com is real. It will always say looking unless it's downloading. Leave it be and you'll get your turn in the que. This system isn't as fast as Kazaa but you get what you want.

Like dhlucke said, if there is one thing you need when using edonkey it's patience. It will take up quite a bit of bandwidth so if you're surfing turn it off. But when you go to work or to bed turn it on and leave it on. It's common for some files to take weeks to get. You get used to it.

Yeah, but it is hard to find. It can easily be regulated by the servers.

I use BitTorrent as well. I've found that it performs minimally better and sometimes much better than edonkey. But it's a little more work. You have to go back to the link each time you close the program. They should make a GUI like edonkey has. BitTorrent is not good for downloading multiple multiple files.

I just started using Edonkey a week ago, and i have to say pretty happy with it, even though a 170mb file i just downloaded took over 6 hours.

Depends on the server your using, the ones I use have a 28 day post retention. I check them once or twice a week for anything I might want. The only time I fire up Kazaalite is when... actually I cant remember the last time I used it

With Edonkey speed is based on the rarety of the file. You can find virtually anything but sometimes it takes a while. I have a few files that I've been working on for a month. When they complete I in turn share them 24/7 to make it easier for others.

A popular file will download very quickly. Try downloading something like Office and you'll have it the same day. If you decide to download Punky Brewster Episode 3 it might take you a lifetime.

Edonkey is awesome for TV shows. I started downloading episodes of 24 before they even were on the air here. That kicks ass.

With Kazaa there are a lot more people and thus speed but the quality and authenticity of the files is always in question.
