Crysis 2 DX11 Performance on 6970

My specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 970 Overclocked at 4.0 GHz
4GB DDR 1333 MHz RAM
Sapphire 2GB 6970 single gpu
Win 7x 64

Playing at 1920x1080

Everyting on ultra, I only get 15-20 fps. It is unplayable. I thought my GPU would be good enough to run ultra and get at least 45-60 fps? Does my perfromance seem right based on my specs? Only 15 fps?

Another werid glitch is that when V-Sync is enabled, the fps is capped at 30 fps and wont ever go past it. I have enabling Triple Buffering and it makes no difference.

Is this a case of ATI having poor driver performance?

ATI cards have problems with this patch.

How do you know ati cards have a problem? Should I return mine and get a 570 then? I just bough hd 6970...

A replacement? I don't know about that. With the settings completely maxed out I have also noticed that, although it varies on different levels, compared to pre 1.9 the game is running way slower. I did load up one mission where it literally was running constantly at what you said, 15-20 fps. I would say that benchmark seems fairly accurate tho, my average is probably around 30 or so. I have a feeling it just needs to be optimized better for us ATI users.

edit: I hadn't had much time to play but I tried a bit more this morning and you are right...for some reason now with vsync on the game locks at 30 fps during gameplay. Itll dip depending on what im looking at or doing. I am kind of frustrated by that because I only just figured out how to stop it from locking at 24 fps due to my gaming on my hdtv....Now I have another lock issue.

Dude, you have to have a driver issue or something. I've got a phenom II six core at 4Ghz (1055t 1.45v) and a 6850 (1000Mhz Gpu - 1150Mhz Mem) and I'm getting no less than 20-40 with and avg of about 27fps. I get better fps at stock than ur getting with a WAY more powerful card. Download the 11.6 Catalyst drivers and I'd uninstall your current drivers b4 re-installing those. Also, I'd do a full uninstall of the game. Re-install, run the launcher to upgrade to 1.9 and then apply the hi-res pack and finally the dx11 patch. Good luck

I'm not sure about the op but somehow I fixed my issue. I know it was most likely something to do with my tv as this game has issues with HDTVs. I played earlier and have it running at ultra 1900x1080 vsync on and now I'm getting 40-60 fps mostly around 60 tho. No idea what the issue was but it's fixed now for me.

Hey dude. I am copping the same. 20-25 fps with all settings on ultra. I was previously getting between 60 to 80 fps on extreme before the dx11 upgrade. I have now adjusted the settings to extreme only and now I am getting 50 to 70 fps which is okay.

My specs
17 2600k OC’d to 4.1 ghz
Radeon 6950 flashed to 6970
6gb 1333 RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
Screen size is 23” (1920x1080)

I have an i7 920 @ 4.0, 6gb ram @ 1333 and 2 6950's unlocked at 885/1375 at 1920x1200. I ran the benchmark and had 54 average FPS.

One thing to note, if I don't turn off Aero, I drop about 20 FPS. If I leave a bunch of folders open, or firefox, I lose about 10 FPS. This game, or maybe just DX11 ultra, requires a lot of RAM.

To be more specific. Running the benchmark I had min of 39-41, max of 62-64, and average between 52-55.

Every once in a while, I forget to close all my apps down and the score will plummet. Once I had an average of 27 due to this.

Thats interesting regarding having opened items/ aero. I have been playing a bit more and yea ill say my average is about 40-45, min is about 25ish, but takes a hit in certain places, and max just under 60. Ive definitely noticed in running through sp that there are some spots where I get hit really hard. Hopefully they can optimize it a bit better on the next driver release.

I am still having problems with my hdtv which are truly unexplainable though. I had a discussion with someone else on here about it, how some games dont specify the refresh rate (like crysis series) so it defaults to 1080p24p locking my fps at 24. I found the solution to that, which is to create a custom res, just slightly lower and it works, although even then sometimes it locks at 30 still. But today, I was somehow able to "trick" the tv into playing 1900x1080 without the lock... I don't understand what I am doing but its just driving me crazy.
