Hello, I've got an old HPLaserJet3100 multifunction fax/scanner/printer and
I'm trying to set it up to share a voice phone line. I'd like it to be able
to sense when an incoming call is a fax, and answer (like my friend's
Lexmark), otherwise not answer and let the phone/voicemail work. I don't
think this was in the original specs (at least not in the manual), but I did
a firmware upgrade a couple of years ago and there is now an option in the
"fax settings" (not documented in the manual) called "monitor phone", whose
options are "yes" and "no". Anyone know what this does? Might it do what I
want to have done? Any documentation anywhere? HP wants $39 to talk to me.

Thanks! Emails appreciated, but answering here is fine too!

Regards,

Rich rme999@ntplx.net
