I would go for Korea.
More "western" more technologically up to date, no "great internet firewall" and ltos of broadband. Plus, i hear that the dog is tasty

Korea is more like the USA. Ulsan, Korea is a car center--Korea has bad weather, bad food, and people work too hard ...although you can watch English TV , read papers etc.
China is like Disneyland ....If you follow the rules you can have a whole lot of fun. I much prefer China
Been to both many times.

If this is long-term, do Korea no question.
The Korean written language is considered
the easiest to learn in the world. All kindergarten
children can read and write at what we consider
an adult level.

Thanks for the replies. It's seems a bit of a toss-up still. The poll is currently at 3-2 in favor of China.
But, I talked to one of the controls engineers at my company, who is from China. When he heard which city it was, he recommended Korea. I guess that is the deciding vote.
I will announce my decision for Korea, tomorrow. I should be able to negotiate a stop-over in Hawaii, or the west coast, on the way back (if I have any vacation time left).
It's not exactly a long term assignment. Probably 3-4 weeks if everything goes smoothly. But you never can tell.
The assignment I am currently on, was predicted to be 2-3 months. It's been 7 months now, and I am just starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I may be done in 2 more months. At least this job is only a 2 hour drive from my house. I stay in a hotel during the week, and go home on the weekends.
Heh.. I've been on some projects that where supposed to be 2 weeks and ended up being 10 months.

Well they originally only wanted me there for 2 weeks, but after a week and a half they decided to completely scrap what they had done before and to start over. So I was out there for a couple of more months, and then they changed their minds again and we went back with what we had. It's really messed up. Basically there where about 6 people in charge and each had his own idea of how it was supposed to be done. I just always saved what I was doing cause I knew if they told me to scrap it we'd prolly go back to it. Talk about a cluster [-peep-]. It kept me busy though.
