For gaming you have alot of CPU power compared to GPU, I suggest you lower the CPU to i3 2100 and upgrade the GPU to 6850-6870 with the change.

Get a P67 motherboard, you don't need Hxx if you are using a discrete GPU.

Also beef up the GPU as the other poster recommended, use at least a 6850/6870, or a GTX 560.

That said, what you lists will play CoD:BO on high--the game isn't even approaching intensive when it comes to taxing your GPU.

Its good for 1920 x 1200 see:

This is DX9 I think DX11 cripples it but drivers should be out soon to fix it.

Firstly, you seem to have changed your requirements from COD:BO on high to Crysis 2 (DX11) on high. Very, very different requirements.

Predicating my answer on these reviews (looking specifically at Metro2033 as indicative of DX11 performance):

market/11

Pay attention to the resolution and graphics settings:

If you are willing to reduce your resolution a little, yes, you will get playable frames.

However, if your desire is to crank it up with the DX11 on Crysis 2 or similar games, I would suggest jumping up to the i5-2500 or i5-2300 and AT LEAST a GTX 560ti or Radeon 6950 GPU.

If all you want to do is play CoD, then the i3 and the 6870 will suit you just fine.

Again, to emphasize--CoD and Crysis 2 DX11 are very different benchmarks.

he will eventually need a quad core though.
i think that you should save the extra money and get a 6950 which will cost roughly 250. thats better than spending 125 now then anything above 125 later which you will have to eventually to play new games. you will be money ahead to buy a better gpu now then later.

will the i5-2500 and HD 6950 be good enough for the upcoming Battlefield 3 on med to high settings with dx11 ???
and what type of mobo does the 6950 require ????
And is 8GB enough ram for graphic intensive games ?????

System specs for B3 aren't released yet. Anything now is just speculation.

A Z68 mobo can take a 6950.

8GB will be fine for the near future. Buy 4GB dimms you can double that to 16GB later down the road.

Go for the 2500k CPU which should cost you 10-20usd extra but can easily be overclocked to 4.5ghz

like the others have said equip that with a 6950 and you will have yourself a beastly rig.

Yes the 2500 is a quad core. With the 6950 get a 600W PSU for one if you want to get crossfire later 750W. Get a corsair antec or seasonic brand PSU as some cheaper ones can only supply less than half what they are rated at. If you want to overclock the CPU then get a better cooler otherwise the stock one if fine. Also get as many case fans as will fit in your case.

Do not get an H61 or H67 motherboard with the 2500K if you ever want to overclock. Get a P67 (overclockable) or Z68 (overclocking, SSD caching, quick sync).
