Temp Sensor location

Finally, I just got two thermal sensors for my MoBo (have to order them seperately). I will stick one to the HS (as close as CPU as possible). My question is where should I put another one to get the motherboard temp read. I'm using MBM5 to read temp and it report Via686A-1 of 22C. What is this temp refer to?

Thanks.

Better yet - stick it right onto the CPU (not on the slug of course, but next to it). That will be even closer to the actual CPU temp. Thats what I did, anyway.

I would agree with this. Clean off the area of the ceramic you wanted to stick some tape to, put the thermistor right next to the core (<b>not on it!</b>), then tape it down. Then, right away, put the heatsink right back on.

I agree with your statement, but why the rush putting back the HSF? Are you implying to tape on the temp probe while the CPU is running? That of course would be a no-no. No sense in rushing the reattachment of the HSF. Take your time, being most careful not to damage the core slug in any way.

Good luck!
