Aoe 2 doesnt work on xp

I installed AOE2 on my computer and it didn't work, so I ended up uninstalling then reinstalling it several times. Then it worked fine and I was able to play, but after I saved my game and shut my computer off it wont work anymore. tried to uninstall and reinstall but it wont work. I tried setting the compatibility to 95, 98, and 2000 and none of them work, also the send report message comes up after I try to open it. Whats the next step?

I've installed AOE2 on xp and I do not recall having this problem. Check your patches, and I would do a complete uninstall by uninstalling, going to start, run then type %temp% highlight everything and delete it (don't worry this is safe, I've done it for years) just to make sure. Reboot then locate your patches FIRST, install then directly update it. If you have an "altered" exe file, well that is a different subject.
