From what I remember of the game trailer that was shown here about a month back I hope that the swearing it takin out of the game as I remeber Duke saying the F word a few times & lets face it there is no need for Duke to have to say the f word to make his sayings funny.
September 3, 2010 6:19:27 PM

I'll believe it when the game itself is on the shelf of a retail store.
September 3, 2010 6:21:36 PM

on the one hand it better not slowdown development for borderlands 2 or more DLC... that said if it does not I'll be happily trying to get me a copy :D

Yeah more Borderland will be cool!
September 3, 2010 6:35:26 PM

Even tho this game has been delayed in to never never land for so long,
i'd still buy a copy when it comes out
September 3, 2010 6:41:30 PM

So starts the long and winding road toward bankruptcy for Gearbox... (just kidding! I hope!)

Seriously, though, does anyone who played the original really pine for a new Duke Nukem game? While the original game was certainly a shock to the system, the property is just IP at this point, and while it remains to be seen, the only innovation Duke appears to have gained is the ability to survive over a decade of development hell.
September 3, 2010 6:41:38 PM

I hope they hired all the original developers fro 3DR, or this will be a disaster.

Insert witty comment in order to win that SUPER AWESOME RIG from Tom's Hardware!!!! :)

Have you played the first one? If there is gaming character in gaming history that deserves to drop a few F-bombs here and there.. its Duke!
September 3, 2010 6:49:52 PM

Duke Nuken:Taking Forever should be the new title. Hopefully they are finally out of bubble gum and are ready to kick some arse.

/agreed. Duke without the language would simply not be Duke.
September 3, 2010 6:59:27 PM

I wouldn't exactly call it "10+ years of hype". More like the butt of every game developer joke since 1999.
September 3, 2010 7:06:28 PM

Wow, so the game might *actually* get released? Assuming, of course, that there are no more setbacks. Nothing like that could possibly happen now, could it? COULD IT?

I suggest you return to HALO and leave the adult games to adults.

Duke Nukem - "Your the inspiration for birth control."

Loved those taunts Duke would give in a network match. :)

I'm here to waste your time and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of gum.

The toilets were sweet... was that in Wolfenstein too???
September 3, 2010 7:11:51 PM

Even though I ran outa bubble gum years ago.... Im still ready for some more Duke whenever they get the game launched. Its just too much a part of gaming history and nostalgic to forget about, such as Doom/Quake.
September 3, 2010 7:17:04 PM

Is it just me or are todays youth going to not even know who Duke Nukem is? Seriously if your under 25 chances are you probably never played it. I was a big big fan but it goes without saying his Q' status has def nose dived since the 90's

I half agree. I am 23 and I remember it well. I also remember having to play with the volume down when the parents were home so I could continue to play.... haha

But I think I am the break neck young age for remembering it or not.

Actually I agree Duke should have his smart a$$ comments that is what makes him the Duke but from the preview it seemed they went out of their way to make The Duke say the F word a lot. In the first one he was funny with his wise a$$ comments & never had to actually say the f word ever. Yes I played the first one finished it in fact & played many many many hours of multiplayer forst over dial up them over thin net it was a blast to play.
September 3, 2010 7:45:03 PM

I wonder why people consider Duke to be rude... After all, HE flushes after taking a piss! Not like some!

I also want to remind many of you that Duke Nukem 3D was the third in the franchise: Duke Nukem 1 and 2 were 2D platform games.

And Duke already swore like a sailor in those.
September 3, 2010 7:45:08 PM

Groovy!
September 3, 2010 8:16:44 PM

the duke is back !!!
well maybe he is.and will he be in the porno theater ?
September 3, 2010 8:18:00 PM

I'm excited for this, but kind of sad at the same time. It will be the end of an era if this game actually gets released. I would hate to be an employee at Gearbox right now. The pressure to get this game released and not having it suck must be enormous. Good luck Gearbox.
September 3, 2010 8:26:44 PM

Even after all these years of delay and vaporware, the moment I hear "Duke Nukem Forever", I get excited. I spent more time playing and making levels for Duke3D than any other game by a long shot. Can't wait for the sequel.
September 3, 2010 8:37:16 PM

Hmmm, anybody remember "Shadow Warrior" and the first "Soldier of Fortune", absolutely nothing politically correct there at all, those were the days, games were actually phun, not like the news story junk of today,,,must be getting old...:)
September 3, 2010 8:37:43 PM

I want it, but considering all the hype and wait anything less than the greatest game ever will probably be a let down. I guess we'll see, finally.... maybe..................
September 3, 2010 8:45:36 PM

It's time to kick ass and chew Bubble Gum, but Duke Nukem Forever isn't released yet.
September 3, 2010 8:54:35 PM

Shet, I'm all out of gum. Guess I'll have to ask Gearbox for some. I know they always have all those different flavored gums. Maybe while I'm at it I'll do some a$$ kicking!

On a more serious note though. I really hope this game gets released. Not just for myself that has been waiting those 10 lonngggg years (I've been playing since Duke 1, 2, and 3D back in the day and I'm 24). But it's about bringing the world closer together with kicking some alien tail and picking up some beetches along the way as well! After it's released the world will be in a state of peace for the next century, all hail the king baby!
September 3, 2010 8:55:45 PM

There won't be any Duke left now, think we'll play Duke Jr.
C'mon 10 years have passed :D  Duke grew old and tired xD
September 3, 2010 9:01:26 PM

me: Hello
caller: Hello, this is hell calling.
me: Hello, what's going on hell?
caller: We just wanted to let you know that we're in the middle of a blizzard. Hell has offically frozen over.
me: really? Wow! Hmm I wonder if Duke Nukem Forever would actually get released. Nah, that could never.....

HOLY CRAP!!!!!
September 3, 2010 9:02:56 PM

Still remember shooting at 2d sprites "walking" around on screen. I am definitely looking forward to playing a game that has been built on that kind of quality programming.
September 3, 2010 9:08:57 PM

BALLS OF STEEL!
September 3, 2010 9:17:31 PM

has any oen considered the fact that the game was "leagally" stolen from its makers using back door politics and red tape , if it is indeed getting finished ? does any one care about this fact? asmuch asmuch as i'd like to see the game , i fear it wil have no mention of 3d realms or the guys that worked on it for 12 years. I hate seeing leagal crimes more than waiting for a video game.
September 3, 2010 10:04:52 PM

Its time to kickass and chew bubble gum... and im all out of gum
September 3, 2010 10:16:59 PM

Duke Nukem is truly one remarkably strong and well recognized character.

Would be cool to see a good movie made for it
September 3, 2010 10:50:53 PM

Heh...good old Duke. Makes me wonder how many game engines and graphics cards have gone and passed since DNF's development was started...
September 3, 2010 11:51:14 PM

I was excited to see that it's finally going to be released. Then I just found out that BF3 is also in production. Totally jizzed my pants
September 4, 2010 12:04:36 AM

Duke Nukem really brings back some great memorys. I hope the new Duke can live up to the hype. Given the last time I played Duke the new Duke may not have much name brand recognition left. If its a good game tho could do well.
September 4, 2010 1:43:59 AM

To get us all in the mood, I'll just leave this here. Want more? Google search it. :)
September 4, 2010 3:15:14 AM

So it is back.
