The Mouse Runs Around...?

I have this annoying problem(s) maybe they're related? The problem occurs when I'm up on the screen doing whatever, cruising the web or some other thing. Nothing to a specific program or task.

When I stop with my mouse on the screen, say at the top and sit for a short period, all of a sudden the mouse (pointer) takes off and runs down to the bottom of the screen, like poof and it's somewhere else.

I tried switching the mouse. No cure. Now unknown if it's related, but when I'm say printing something out or working a task or two the damn computer slows down almost to a stop or freezes for a short 10 seconds or so... This is anoying. Didn't have these problems with my 800 Mhz AMD.

Here's what I'm running:

VIA KT133/VT8363/VT82C686A Chipsets
2-128MB sticks of PC133 at CAS 2
AMD Thunderbird 1GHz w/200 FSB
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 32MB (Model 64)
30GB Maxtor HD at 7200 RPM
50X CDROM
8x8x32 CDR

Any ideas on this problem?

Thanks, The Scoob Meister.

go to the device manager in control panel and see if there is a conflict with your mouse .

I have the same problem with 2 IBM PC300 at work. I didn't found a cure already. If you find something, please tell me, I will do the same :)
