Windows 7 headphone settings

Hello,
i brought a gigabyte 880GM-UD2H mother board and AMD II athalon CPU....ok the problem is, i couldn't play sounds with my headphone...though it plays them partially...but not completely ( for eg : while playing a song it only plays ochestra .So, is there any setting that i'm missing ).But the headphone played completely fine in XP...Thnx !!

Are your speakers configured for 5.1?

Right click on the speaker on the taskbar and select playback devices.

Make sure its configured for 2 speakers/Headphones.
