My buddy will soon have DSL and Cable modem. We are wanting to combine all the bandwidth. I found some Cisco routers, but they were well over $1K. I have noticed that my Sygate Office Network software will route multiple modems and broadband. Are there any solutions out there to apply those abilities to broadband?

you have answered your own question. look into the capabilitys of the sygate software. but i doubt you can use it to download 1 stream at the combined speed of both modems, usually that requires the cooperation of the isps.

I agree. You need the support of ISP in order to download 1 stream at the combined speed of both modems. There are software that supports load balancing on multiple boardband connections.

thats a thought, i had to consider it for a min. i dont think it would work. it will still use the default internet connection to download. you need some other software to shotgun the two networks to make it look like a single connection in its self.

yup, looks like that will do it for you. only when your downloading with download accelerator mind you. it wont help with internet browsing. you must be desperate for speed, thats a pretty big price tag for only double the speed, not to mention double the internet access price.

Internet downloads travel from one IP address )the source) to another IP address (the destination). The xDSL provider and the Cable Modem provider undoubtably use seperate IP Network address spaces.

The only ways that I can think of to logically join two data circuits (the xDSL and Cable Modem) together are ML-PPP and I-MUX. Both of which would have to be configured on both ends of the circuits. Which would involve the assistance of the ISP.

Well, I don't need to have a single stream capable of the combined bandwidth. Downloads from Kazaa (as well as other P2P services) and things like Download Accellerator, which can split the download up into multiple smaller downloadswould take advantage of this.

The DSL is free, and the Cable modem is only a $10/month increase in the bill. Also, I don't pay for any of it anyway. I am going to be on a WLAN with my friend who has this setup.
