I got a Kyocera 7135 from Verizon last week. I'm still getting used to it
but in general I'm happy. The phone functionality is fine. Syncing has some
faults but it's usable. I don't care too much for the Kyocera MP3 Player
though. Is anyone using another player? What do you think of it?

Bebopper is a very fine one. KyoAmp is another that is in the final stages
of development. Get thee to www.pdaphonehome.com and browse (search)
the Kyocera 7135 forum.

How you get a 7135 from them, where are you; in the midwest, its fallen off
the phone list; and when I tried to get a "fru", they said it wasn't
available. I love my 7135, and wouldn't mind buying another... dr

The 7135 uses Palm OS 4.1 with an slow processor ~32Mhz. It has
a dedicated hardware decoder for MP3 files.
Anyway, none of the standard audio applications for Palm OS 5
can be used, and it's not possible for the device to decode other formats.
Anyway, there's only a couple 3rd party players that have been specifically
written for the 7135. Luckily, there is at least one that is excellent. See
http://www.belltools.com/ for bebopper which really works well. It allows
you to hold the external "up" arrow for volume up, or tap "up" for next
track.
In addition, the "mute" button on the headset toogles pause/playback.

I'm in upstate New York. When I was at the Verizon Wireless store in the
mall I noticed they had a "closeout" tag on the 7135 but the price hadn't
changed. I went home and looked online to see if I could get a better deal.
It was still $399 so I ordered it online. The people in the store weren't
very helpful anyway.
