I am ready for an upgrade. I had full intentions of waiting for a nForce motherboard with an Athlon 4. I recently read that AMD pushed back shipment of Athlon 4 desktop until Autumn. I have also read that nForce boards may be available as soon as August.

What currently available AMD processors will be compatible with this nForce board? Will the current crop of processors (Thunderbird-266mhz FSB and Thunderbird-200mhz FSB) be compatable?

I currently have a system with a MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) with a Duron 600 and 100mhz SDRAM. This is what I want to do:
1. Buy a nForce motherboard(probably Asus or MSI), DDR memory.
2. Buy a 1.2 GHz, 266 FSB T-bird for nForce system.
3. When Athlon 4 arrives, upgrade nForce system with Athlon4
4. Upgrade K7T Pro with the 1.2 GHz processor.

Will it work?

ASUS already plan to ship the A7N series of M/B`s come the 3rd quarter.
The AMD CPU`s up to MP will survive well on the nForce chipset.
What you intend to do, I assume will be after you have checked the benchmarks on all the nForce M/B`s available before you purchase either the MSI or ASUS?.
Either way, you should have no difficulties with your current thinking, a look at AMD`s new CPU roadmap may be worth your while.
