Hi,
Got a Asus A7V (FSB 200Mhz). Can I place a AMD Athlon 1200 with FSB 266Mhz in the socket. If yes what are the restrictions and what are the MBoard settings, patches, bios... I should use?

My MB is still in the original version (not overclockable).
(see article on ASUS A7V overclocking).

Rgds...

Yeah, just underclock the FSB to 100mhz (i.e. 200mhz) instead of 133.

Your mouse moved. WINDOWS NT must restart for changes to take affect. Restart Now?[OK]

Well I'll tell ya a nice story. I've got a Asus A7V version 1.01. If ya look in the Bios screens you will see a Remark next to that famous multiplier saying that I am only allowed to use this feature with version 1.04 and/or above.

So what is the best/fastest CPU for my mobo?

The 1200 is avaiable in both the 200 and 266 versions. The "B" is the 200 version and is available on Pricewatch for $89. There is also a 1300 version, but it supposedly won't work on some motherboards do to it's 13x multiplier. I hear AMD recycled a lower multiplier for the 1300, and your BIOS sould have to be able to detect that.
