Question for anyone with similar experience. I've had Verizon service
for only a couple of weeks now, and I've got an LG VX4500. A couple
of times now (and pretty randomly) my phone plays some sort of
ringtone, and when I look at the screen all it says is "welcome." My
best guess is that the phone's lost service and then has come back on
the Verizon network, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas? I'd
like to think this isn't some problem with the phone.

Sounds like the phone is spontaneously rebooting for no good reason. It's
more common in cell phones than a lot of people realize. It's most
noticeable on the LG's because of the annoyingly loud startup sound
effects.

If it's happening a lot, consider getting the software reflashed at a
Verizon store. Or, just see about turning off the startup sound effects.
That's possible on some phones. I'm not sure about the VX4500.

The service change notification is probably turned on. I have the VX-4400
and it has that option. When my phone is first turned on, it will beep and
display a Welcome popup. You should be able to turn the option off under
the settings menu item.

Thanks guys for the input. I called the VZW store in my neighborhood,
and they think it's the phone. I found out I've got the most current
sw version, and they agree the phone is likely spontaneously
"rebooting." They've told me to bring it in for a swap, which I'll try
to do soon.

Thanks again.

The VX-4400 is known for rebooting when it receives a call while lying on
its back on a metal surface. Maybe the 4500 does this as well...?

I had the same problem with my LG VX 7000. I took in in to a Verrizon store
for a software update and this seems to have fixed the problem.
