Crysis / Warhead

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC and CoP (download the Complete Mod before you ever get started...trust me)

Metro 2033

FarCry 2 (I'll probably get slammed for it - I think I'm only one left in the world who really likes this game)

Mass Effect 1 & 2?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - If you want to play a scary game try this; survival horror. You basically have two options: run and hide. There are no weapons. It's best to play at night with no lights. The game relies on pure terror.

bioshock 1 and 2 is alright.
the storyline isnt really the main thing that draws you in.
actually..
it is when the person tells you where to go, and then the new area of the map sucks you in with the architectural work.

another game that does this is the 'penumbra' series.
marketed as a horror game but really looks like some people and a couple dogs fell into something toxic.

but.. as i said, the game is all about going from one scene to the next.
bioshock is atmospheric this way.. but this game takes the atmospheric to a different level.
some wicked changes from one scene to the next.. but also some need to explore the scene and figure your way out of it.
because it is a puzzle based game.. you will get to enjoy the scene more.
it isnt hard like portal is expected to be at times.
i havent played portal 1 or 2.. but i can imagine some of those puzzles are hard to prove a point and give the person what they paid for.

sometimes the scenes in penumbra can look realistic.
so it could be worse.
but the graphics are older.

i kinda like how the game has a story.. but if you are bored with the story, you can keep playing because each new scene takes your breath away.
as if you are walking the maps and reviewing the art work.. you might forget what it is you were supposed to be doing.
and penumbra is good, because if you forget what you are doing.. you cant move on until you find your way out.
you might find your way out before you finish exploring the scene.

i played half life 2 and thought each new scene was sometimes breath taking.
with that said..
i think penumbra can compete with half life 2 on a scene to scene basis.
sometimes half life 2 got really boring.
penumbra could come out on top with more fun scenes.

there is two episodes, plus an expansion for the second episode.

i know i can get really deep into reading newspaper comic strips.
so i think it helps give penumbra a decent review.

Mass effect is a must play, Mass Effect 2 is a must play if you like the first one. Resident evil 4 PC is amazing if you mod it to a playable state lol

Far cry 2 was a good game, it had serious problems though. Maybe they have been fixed by now idk.
