My home is located in an almost dead spot. I am looking for
recomendations (hopefully based on experience) for phones or even
devices that will make reliable service possible.

You need some kind of signal to start with.
My guess is a combination of a high gain Yagi on a mast, tethered to
your cell using low loss cable.
The Nokia 3589i has great digital performance, as a stand alone
solution, but a substandard external antenna adapter signal transfer.
