I have just recently purchased the tyan thunder k7 with on board scsi and two thunder bird 1.2 ghz 266fsb processors. with 512 (2 256mb)Pc 2100 dimms. With the NMB 460 watt power supply. I believe the power supply works fine, it powers dvd drive and scsi hard drive. the system will not post at all. i've tried both processors at 266 and 200 and i've tried alternating the processors in each slot just using one at a time. I have cleared the cmos. I have disabled all of the jumpers for on board video and the on board nics. I thought it was a bad motherboard so I took it back and got a brand new one. Same problem. So my question is do I have to have the Athlon MP processors or should it work with regular Thunderbirds? Any input is appreciated.

I was informed from this site as well as a couple of others that the thunder bird would work fine on this board. Was that just on the pre release version and the changed something on the retail release?

According to Tyan's own <A HREF="http://www.tyan.com/support/html/amd_athlon_duron.html" target="_new">Thunder K7 CPU Requirements Spec</A>, you must use either a 1.0MHz or 1.2MHz <b>Athlon MP (Palomino)</b>!
