Lan games?

Hi, I plan on hosting a lan and there will be at least 4 of us playing.

I want suggestions on strategy games (realtime and turnbased are fine) RPGs and maybe a couple of shooters.

I already have played many games that I know would be nice and have/can get copies for everyone. I prefer more recent games but anything with quality will do even if its 2D.

The lowest end rig can run crysis 2 on medium.

More about games
  1. When we have LANs the games that tend to get thrown around for multiplayer are:
    Killing Floor
    Alien Swarm
    Cod4-ProMod2
    Unreal Tournament
Age of Empires 2 - be careful, as over LAN the game has issues with multiple operating systems and Windows 7 in general. We find that if everyone is using XP it runs fine.
    Battlefield 1942 Free Demo

These games are either cheap/ free and still gives everyone a good time.

Also when I host LANs there tend to be about 10 people so there is enough to go around and a lot of the time people will splinter and play random games online or go on a console or 2.
  2. To add to the RTS list:

    - StarCraft 1 (spawn games for up to 8 players, so only 1 disc required.)
    - C&C Generals & Zero Hour
    - C&C 3
  3. Crysis Wars for a shooter LAN game.
Command and Conquer for RPG style.
  4. ^RPG?
  5. I love killing floor.
  6. C&C is a good one, play it on my local lan.

That was a typo error. I meant RTS.

Yay - another Crysis Wars fan!

We're kind of rare these days.....coming across one on a forum is like seeing a unicorn.
  10. I really love Crysis Wars, I still play it with my friends. And they love it too.
