Witcher 2 Freezing Problem

Hi mates, greetings from turkey :)
My computer specs,

Athlon II x4 640 (3.0 gHz) processor
Ati Radeon Hd 4870 (512mb/256 bit) vga
150 Gb Seagate hdd (ata)
2 Gb (512x4) ram (533 mhz) (o' yeah, not kidding.)
Ecs a780gma motherboard.

Here's my problem.

I have played (cod 4,5 - batman arkham asylum - bioshock etc) on high settings with average 60-70 fps with no freezing.
But in the witcher 2 when i turn the mouse fastly the game freezes (fps 0) for a second than goes normal. (The game sounds also freezing) (and my average fps is about 40)

Is it happening because of my oldish antique rams/hdd. Or is my vga not good enough to play the game? Please enlighten me :miam:

  2. Hi, what settings is Witcher 2 on? You need to make sure Ubersampling is turned off, this will drasticly slow down the game.
  3. high spec. ubersampling, ssao and vsync disabled.

it's going playable with low settings, but i thought my pc could handle high.

    if i buy,
    4gb ddr3 1600 mhz ram
    MSI 870A-G54 am3 ddr3 sata3 motherboard
    seagate 750 gb 7200 rpm 32mb sata 6gb/s hdd

are these can fix the freezing thing?

4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM may do the trick, since you're problem may be due to less amount of free RAM available. Also, the game is quite intensive, so you're going to have to make sure that you don't leave any sorts of programs running in the background while you play. Have you installed the patches for the game and have you updated your drivers ?

Yes, both game patches and graphic drivers have updated to latest versions.
  6. that entire setup is a bit old, i dont think a simple ram upgrade will help. could you tell us what res you are running the game at?

i would recommend you tried defraging your hard drive, i dont think a simple ram upgrade will help. Entire system is a bit old.
  7. ^Apart from the CPU, everything else is old.
Can you really go for a DDR3 RAM ? It's not supported on that motherboard.

As I said, Witcher 2 is quite intensive. Better RAM and HDD will help run the game better.
