Okay, sorry about the title but frankly I'm annoyed with my system because I just can't seem to get maximum performance out of it.

I have the Tyan Trinity Mobo with a PIII 800 133 FSB onboard. I also have a Matrox G400 Max video card and the IGM 30GB UDMA100 hard drive (the one that's meant to be really fast). I also have an SB Live Platinum

My problem is that after a new install of windows 98 SE, I have to spend ages reinstall various Tyan VIA chipset 4in1 drivers alongside my Matrox drivers so as to get games like Black & White to run without hanging during 'story telling stages'. By this I mean some kind of DX effect occurs where the machine hangs one an access of hard drive, 3D and sound.

I don't think my HD is running at max rate (even though through a UDMA66) cable.

Basically, to get the hanging to stop I have to either turn off AGP Turbo or DMA Access from my 4in1 drivers. However, I am convinced this is affecting system speed and performance.

Does anyone have this set up and a 'perfect' set of Matrox drivers with a corresponding 4in1 set which they reckon should sort my machine out.

I can provide more details but don't know what people would want at this stage.

Cheers in advance.
