Ever since i have gotten my new computer (Athlon 1ghz @ 1.3 with A7V133 mb) it seems when ever i am installing something on my toshiba cdrom or burning something on my yamaha 8x burner my computer really starts to run really slow. I know it will run "slower" but my old p2 233 @ 300 was no doubt faster when using cdroms and burners. Any ideas for any solutions or setting i may havet to change???

Just so you know my cdrom and burner are running off one ide port as master and slave and my HD is running at ata 100 on antother port.

any help greatly appriciated!

I never really new what dma did but now i know its a VERY VERY good thing. What exactly does dma do and should it be turned on for my hds and cdroms too>??

if its supposed to be on for hd's my ata100 hd does not have an option to turn dma on or off...is it already on?

Since your HD on Promise controller, it has been run on DMA mode .

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
