after several attempts to install a Belkin Bluetooth adapter to the usb to be
used as a virtual com port, I now have 9 com ports and can't seem to find any
way to get rid of them.
I have a piece of software which needs to access any port between com 1-4.
Now I cant use it.
How do I get rid of the extra ports?

The ports shoul dbe listed in device manager
Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware tab> Device Manager Button> under Ports (COM & LPT). Being careful no to delete the ones you need, right click and uninstall what you don't need and want to get rid of.
If they are allocated and can't be deleted then it might be a job for the correct variation of Safe Mode.
