In consdering my next system, i hadnt really thought of dual proc until recently. Mostly because its a waste unless you have software that can actually make use of it, which im getting more and more into. As i started to look around for what i wanted, i saw something that threw me off. Using the AMD 1.2 Tbird as an example, it has both a regular model and a MP (multi procc) model. The price for the MP is near double the regular. Do i hav to use the MP for dual procc unit, even better question, what the hell is the MP..? I never heard of it till now. In tlakin to some people, one suggested maybe it had diff cahce, or equated it to the Intel Xeon, also built for servers/dp. Maybe even a diff pin array. I DONT KNOW~! hehe
So, who can give me info about dualing an AMD system. Do i have to use the MP..? Are there reasons why i should use the MP if im not required too..?
Also any suggestions/opinions about which MB and chipset you prefer greatly appreciated~!

Basically there are 2 versions of the 1GH and 1.2GH processors. One being T-Bird and the other being Palamino. Palamino is the newest to be out, which is supposed to run around 10% faster than the T-Bird and cooler.

Basically the Palamino has one more pin that the T-Bird, but most dual boards that come out, should support the T-Bird as well. If you do go with the dual board(which as far as I can tell ONLY Tyan is selling as of now), then the Palamino would be your best bet. BUT, they should come out with faster ones in the future, which should drive down the prices. The 1.2 seems about $100 more if you get the Palamino over the T-Bird.

Needless to say, if you run a dual board and overclock, your case will have a good amount of heat in it. Yes you could put 5 fans it ;) But if the palaminos do run cooler, that would rock to have 2 of them, and less fans.
