I'm in the 22nd (or 23rd) month of my 2yr contract with VW. I just
received my November 10th statement that charges a base $60 (plus
taxes/fees) for the *coming* month of 11/11 to 12/10. I went to the
VW store today to look at renewing for 2yrs to take advantage of the
NE2 offer and current $50 rebates. The salesman said that if I took
advantage of the offer today, the new contract starts immediately
today. My question is since my November 10th statement covers the
time from 11/11 to 12/10, if I start a new contract today (11/18),
will VW credit me the amount owed between 11/18 and 12/10 on that
statement of the old contract?

Regards,
Chris

P.S. Does anyone know how long those $50 rebates will last at VW? I
heard they expire next week.

Why not? It is normal business practice to pro rate charges. I have done
something similar at least twice with no issues.

Yes. Make sure that you understand the prorating formula. There are
no tricks or anything but many people just don't seem to get it. You
want aware if you will be charged overage charges for the period
of 11/11 to 11/18. So lets say you are on a 1000 min plan. 1000/30
= ~33 min/day. 11/11-11/18 = 7 days ==> 233 minutes. If you have
used more than 233 minutes in those 7 days you will be charged overage
charges (even if you use 0 minutes for the rest of the month.

But I don't think this would apply to you. If you are simply exercising
your NE2 and upgrade options it will *extend* your existing contract
2 years. No prorate, no new plan, no "new contract", just a 2 year
commitment. I would recommend doing this (and clarifying it) over
the phone with CS at *611 rather than at a store.
