I have been working on a system now for sometime and I cannot get dvds to play. The system is using the ABIT K7TA mother board and the ATI Xpert 2000 graphics card and uses win 2k as an OS. Every time I go to play a DVD and sometimes while online the system just locks up. The system also has 256 MB Crucial SDRAM PC133 installed and a 40 GIG Ibm hard drive. I have tried everything. A different dvd drive, a different video card (same model), different sound cards (everything from soundblaster live to turtle beach) different hard drives with different installs of WIN 2k.. Via 4in 1 etc. Does anyone have any ideas of what to try? I am thinking that is is realted to the mobo and graphics card, but I try updates drivers etc...

Here is a link describing my experience with the ATI Xpert Pro 2000.
I know you tried replacing the vid card with the same model but it is interesting to see we had a similar problem.
