Over 100 processes on a new laptop

I'm helping a friend configure their new Sony Vaio laptop. It came with a lot of software preinstalled with Windows 7 and although being top of the range, feels sluggish. At startup it has over 100 processes running. (On my own built PC I only have 45 at startup). What is the easiest way to cull these processes and reclaim some performance?

Hi ph34rtheSAiNT and welcome to Tom's hardware forum.

Like other laptops ur friend's VAIO should come with many software that maybe he never use and is configured to start and the rig start up.

U can uninstall it or disable from the msconfig.

Start ==> Type the word msconfig in the search box

Right Click the Result and select Run As Administrator

On the 'Start Up' tab, you will be able to choose which programs you want to run and which you do not.

Save... yes.... yes....

Done.
