Will someone explain, what the n/s bridges do?

Basically,

NB -> CPU, RAM (Highspeed)
SB -> USB, Serial, Parallel, Keyboard, Mouse, IDE, FDD, ISA, Hardware monitoring (Slowspeed)

They communicate via PCI bus.

I don't know how you inferred having to use VIA 4-in-1 drivers from my post, but for more info on AMD 760 chipset see <A HREF="http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/760chipset.html" target="_new">This link</A> - doesn't look to me like there's any VIA in that diagram, although I've heard that it DOES use the VIA 686B southbridge. Have they updated it perhaps?

Todays test of 9 760 motherboards states, that none of them uses the 766 southbridge from AMD. I guess, that leaves us with VIA and VIA to choose from.
