I heard some where that they have found a way to keep minerals and all that junk that conducts electricity out of water, that might actualy work if you didnt have to worry about corrosion and all that [-peep-] getting into your drives...
Dungeons and Dragons Famous Last Words:
"C'mon DM,let's see some REAL monsters!" And then you turn the corner as the Dungeon Master chuckles... DM: "It hits and... Oh hold on... I need more dice"
Yes. Thats true.
COMPLETELY deionised water doesnt actually conduct electricity... its the salt and metal ions taht carry the electrical current.
So using deionised water is pretty easy... keeping the water completely deionised hoever IS NOT.
Even deionised water exposed to the air absorbs CO2, forming chanrged catins and anions... and it really doesnt take much for things to die..
Mot to mention all the stuff sitting on all the component surfaces, or the corrosion that would occur. Very risky.
Its far better dipping your system into a bath of machine oil. Thats been done with considerable sucess.
Unfortunately i read through that post, and the poll, and it WAS a windup... still a good one though. Made me laugh heaps.
Some people need to get a sense of humor. I think the funniest part is how a whole slew of nerds jumped on the bandwagon to tell him, "no, that's not how you do watercooling, sonny." Much too funny. Besides, the guy has 255 posts on a computer tech forum. Anybody that has posted that much on a tech forum and says they did that to their computer is either: a) rather creative and funny or b) in need of a severe beating with a trout.
This gotta be a joke. I can't possibly believe anybody would be that stupid. It's just child knowledge that water and electricity don't mix.
