Practical question: What are the reasons I should or should not get a
new phone? I'm using a v60i on Verizon. My requirements for a phone
are that it be a phone; no camera or other bells and whistles are
required. It needs to be a tri-mode phone with excellent RF reception,
needs to be readable in bright outdoor conditions -- in short, I like
the v60i interface and ergonomics but am always willing to make a switch
if telephonic functions can be improved upon.

Can I improve on those basic telephonic aspects by switching to a new
phone under Verizon's free-every-two scheme? If so, which phone(s)?

Well,

The v60i is a great little phone, but one of the things I always disliked
about it was the display.

My wife just got a Moto v265. Very reasonably. It uses the same User
Interface as the v60, so there's no learning curve to speak of, yeah it does
have a silly camera, but you'd never know it unless you pushed the "Camera"
button by accident.

It seems so far to be a very competent phone, and the display is much easier
to read.

HTH,
Dean

If I had not wanted a bluetooth phone, I would have kept my V60i.
