I downloaded this avi file and I can't delete it. Whenever I right-click on it my pc slows way down; even if I attempt to open the folder containing the avi file, my pc slows down. I tried to open it in windows media player but it said unable to open -- it said it could be a codec issue. The avi file said DivX, so I figured Divx player could open it -- but when I tried to, nothing happens.

You can try downloading the latest free version of Quicktime. You might be able to view it then. If still no luck, run an antivirus scan via Housecall.

Good luck.

boot into safe mode. If you still can't delete it, press alt-ctrl-del in safe-mode and end a tase called Explorer. Now, start a new task from the task manager you brought up (File > New Task(Run)) and type "cmd".

Navigate to the folder using dos commands and delete in from within the command prompt.
