I just set up my new system:
ECS K7S5A MOBO
AMD Athlon 1.33GHz
512MB PC2400 DDR-SDRAM
Promise FastTrak RAID

The problems I am having are:
1. It will not get past the RAID diagnostic if I have my USB mouse plugged in (it does boot if the mouse is on an adapter in the PS-2 hole),
2. Any time I try to copy the flash program and BIOS onto a floppy, it freezes up my system,
3. The flash program (AMI8188) generates protection fault errors (yes, it is within DOS, not just a DOS window).

Please advise!

Attempt trying to flash with out the raid card installed and a ps2 mouse. Unzip the zip file directly to a floppy.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

I did it, but I got error messages after trying to run the flash program. No dice. Any other advice?

Does your motherboard have the onboard Lan and are you sure you are trying to flash the correct bios?

Video editing?? Ha, I don't even own a camera!

Yes, it does, and yes, I am. I'm beginning to think there's a conflict between this chipset and my RAID. Suggestions?

Still no dice! When I try to run the app from DOS, I get a general protection fault error and a bunch of memory addresses. What's up with this board, anyway?

I really couldn't tell you mine flashed no problem. when you say from DOS just how are you achieving pure DOS mode? A boot disk correct?

Yeah, pure DOS. Is this problem typical of ECS K7S5A boards?
