Old Abit bx6 Upgrade Question...

Ok, I have a abit bx6 board, which i want to upgrade...

The latest bios states it supports a pIII-600, but since the multiplier on the chip is locked, could I possibly get a higher multiplier processor to work with it? Say, an 800 PIII @ 100/bus?

If so, what could be some of the potential problems involved here?
Not enough power? etc....

Thanks in advance

The reason it states up to 600 is it officially only suports the old Katmai core and earlier processors, not the Coppermines. The Katmai ended at 600MHz. They are differentiated on Pricewatch by the fact that they have 512k cache (but it's much slower than the 256k of the Coppermine, since it's off die cache).
But the webpage for your motherboard http://www.abit.com.tw/eng/product/mb/bx6.htm indicates it can accept up to 700MHz processors, which would include Coppermine. Since this motherboard is overclockable, a PIII 700 at 933 would be nice as long as coppermines work. I recommend the FC-PGA CPU in an Abit Slotket III (available at http://www.googlegear.com).
