Hello:
I was wondering if it was possible to use non-mp processors in Tyan's new dual processor boards (S2460 and S2462) I think i remember that you could use non MP chips on the S2462 from THG's review, but want to know for sure! Thanks all!

I believe you can, but it isn't supported by AMD, and people have had problems doing it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Don't waste your money trying it. Just by the MP. I have a tyan thunder k7 and tried with dual 1.2 266 tbirds and it wouldn't even post. So I bought an MP and it works fine. Just spend the extra dough and get the MP it's less headache.

Another thing, you have to used registered memory. Nonreg memory will work only in slot one so you can only have one dimm. I had the same problem. Bought 2 256 sticks and each one worked by itself but they wouldn't work on their own. Sold them and bought a gig of registered ecc 4 256 crucial and all works good. Watch out. The earlier bioses are flaky flash it up to 2.5 at least.
