I need a camera phone that I can bring home at night and transfer pictures
to my computer. I would like to use a USB cable or however else.

No such animal, but close. Try the Motorola 710; take your pictures, then
push the pictures to your sd card. Now all you need is a SD reader on your
computer, and you've solved your problem. dr

BitPim is your friend. Google for it - its free.

People often post about using this application to retrieve pictures and
upload ringers/backgrounds.

As with so many things in life, you get what you pay for. It took me
over a year to finally decide to splurge on a Treo 600, and I've never
regretted it. It's a really nice tool, I use many of the palm
features of this phone much more than I used the palm handled it
replaces, because having all this info in ONE item makes it much
easier to keep with me all the time, and thus use all the time.
