This is a bios limit. Update your bios.
I don't know your board but old bios have limits for HD's larger than 8Gb or 32Gb.
How large is yours?

There is a way around that problem. First go to the website of your hard disk manufacturer and download the tools that help you set up a HDD, there should be a utilitie to help you have an 8GB particion size, and of course slit the HDD into particions equal or smaller than 8GB.
Good luck
