i just assembled a new system, with an ECSK7S5A, athlon 1.4 266;256 DDR; which went smmothly. however on powerup the fans come on, then nothing, no bios beeps or video.

I've tried removing all components, except mobo & cpu (even out of case)with same result: no bios error codes

Looking through other posts it seems the problem lies with the motherboard or cpu, but is there any way to determine which?

The best way to determine which is at fault is to try both on a different system.

Have you tried using the Insert key on the keyboard when booting up? Double check all the jumpers on the mainboard first.

It is the weakest link. They are not ready yet many have tried and failed with it.
