xp home to xp professional upgrades

i have a problem with one of my pc's. i upgraded it from xp home to xp pro,
and it wont start up. when i try to install it again i boot the pc up with
the boot disc and a message comes up saying that i have not finished my
upgrade , and i have done that about 50x now and has no effect. i have tryed
a recovery and it doesn't work.


can you help me?

This happened to me and I had to delete the partitions
during setup and reinstall the OS on a newly created
partition.

how can i fix it without losing all my work?
