I'm running XP Home OS. I am in the process of upgrading my system with a bigger hard drive & faster processor. When I install the new components and install XP on the new drive, will MS let me use the same product key? I know activation relies on hardware setup and Microsoft allows for certain upgrades. Will this be over-stepping the bounds allowed? Another option I was thinking about doing was just making a ghost copy of my present drive and not messing with a new install. Any input would be appreciated.

Last I knew, you could activate XP 3 times before you had to call the service number.
If you call the service number, they'll answer immediately, ask you for the code, maybe a question or two. They can reset the usuage thing too.

I did this recently when I was attempting to use a program to wipe out the XP key and replace it with another one. I had to call them up and tell them my key. They didn't say anything to me about it.
