http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/1/beta

Listed at the bottom of the above page is faq and one of those is about specs - the minimum and recommended are as follows:

Minimum:

Win Vista SP2 32bit
CPU: 2GHz Intel Dual Core 2 or Athlon X2 2,7 GHz processor
RAM: 2GB
HDD: 20GB
Graphics Card: AMD: DirectX 10.1 with 512mb 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series with ATI RADEON 3870 or higher for performance. NVIDIA: DirectX 10 with 512MB GEFORCE 8, 9, 200, 400 or 500 series with 8800 GT or higher for performance.

Recommended:

Win 7 64bit
CPU: Quad Core
RAM 4GB
HDD: 20 GB
Graphics Card: DirectX 11 with 1024MB (GEFORCE GTX 560 or ATI RADEON 6950)

I am fairly surprised at this last, but then what is 'recommended' may mean 'on Ultra settings' or it may mean 'High settings.' Either way - think I'll be going crossfire for xmas - just to be sure.

Maybe they're getting a little ahead of themselves with the "recommended" build? I don't know. Maybe not, if the graphics will look as realistic as they seem to be, at least in the single player.

Yeah, for the beta I guess I would have expected just the minimum to be declared...

But this isn't the first time they've released gameplay.

So the developers believe that this game is more demanding than Crysis 2 with DX11, or they are assuming everybody is running 2560x1600 displays. It will be interesting to see the final benchmarks, we may just have another game that requires a theoretical future computer from SPACE!

Let me understand, for BF3:
For low settings we need 8800GT or equivalent.
For medium settings we need ATI RADEON 6950 or equivalent, which is 6 tiers above the 8800GT.
So for high settings we will need a card 6 tiers above the HD 6950 ( I guess HD 7990 CF ).
And Finally for ultra settings we will need a card 6 tiers above the HD 7990 CF.
No, that doesn't sound quite right. Maybe recommended means high settings...

Didnt they say something back at E3 about how there isnt a single gpu out that can max BF3 , I kinda assumed that was just talk, but maybe not??
