i've just bought a new computer. these are the specs:

Abit KG7 raid mobo
256MB Crucial/Micron Ram stick (1 piece)
amd 1GHz Athlon AXIA 266MHz FSB
2 Maxtor 20GB HDD (raid 0 config)
300 Watts Powmax AMD approved PSU
1.44MB Panasonic FDD
52X Sony HDD
12X 8X 32X Panasonic CD-Writer
Inno3d 32MB GTS Card
Creative Audigy D.E. Sound Card
Creative Inspire 3500 5.1 Speakers
15" Samsung monitor

At first, the computer ran smoothly. However, the next day when i tried to start it, it won't start, though the HDD lights were blinking. There was also intermittent loud beeps about 1 second after I start. Anyone can help?

My friend just built a system, it made about 10 beeps in total on startup and nothing happened. It was the ram. 256meg stick of pc166 cas2 tonicom. I got free ram, well i traded him one of my 128's for his 256. The ram i gave him was lower grade, cas2 but pc133 not 166. That's just a similar experiance to yours, but my friend's never started up once til he got compatible ram. Good luck!

I've had a simular sounding problem. Beep code almost sounded like one of those police cars in france(contious). Ended up being the ram as well.

There should be a section in your motherboard manual about the beep codes, but I agree that it is most likely your RAM.
