I have an A7A266 mainboard and an AMD Thunderbird 1333Mhz CPU. My problem is that sometimes the CPU gets over 70 degrees hot and in idle 60-65 degrees. I use CoolMaster and
a copper plate but it do not help. Is it the mainboard or something else?

A copper plate like as in shim ?

If it is a that, its likely that shim is holding the heat sink off the cpu slightly, i would pull that shim out of there completely and remove the thermal pad if there is one on the base.
Then apply a small amount of Artic silver II thermal paste, re-install it carefully and you will see a hugh improvement.
Another improvement would be to replace that coolmaster with something better.

Asus has raised the temp reading by 10C in BIOS, you chould have read that in here by now. This affects all BIOs versions from 1004 on. And previous BIOS revisions had glitches. So your temp is probably 50-55C at idle. STill a little too high, try a better cooler, such as the Swiftech.

Back to you Tom...
