Well just look at it right now. Pentium 3 and Celeron do not benefit from DDR ram, so the memory bandwidth provided by nForce would do these processors no good. Then tualatin is basically a Pentium 3 with a shrunken Die and more cache (depending on model) so that doesn't benefit either. Then look at Intel teaming up with Ati for their graphics, AND how picky Intel is on chipsets for its pentium 4. Intel wants the $$$, the cash money. It won't LET nvidia make a product that supports any of their processors.
Now I think its pretty safe to say that Pentium4 would like the bandwidth nforce could provide, with dual channel DDR ram it would most likely perform much better than RDRAM. So many people would most likely buy nforce for Pentium4 than anything else so Intel would loose out on all the money its Chipsets brin in, like i845 and i850, even older chipsets still bring in lots of money like the old BX systems. It would also be nice to buy one motherboard (nforce) for any intel processors, just on the fact its a nice integrated solution.
The other end is that nvidia seems to have sided with AMD, and Intel has sided with Ati. Nvidia is with AMD's Hypertransport, and Intel/ati is with 3GIO. The big guns have taken sides and since AMD isn't a bitch about who makes their chipsets I see good things ahead because of nforce.
But until nforce comes out we have to wait before we can be 100% sure. Right now we are all curious where Desktop Palamino is, it was supposed to be out ages ago. I hope its because AMD wants nForce to be the flagship chipset for its Palamino. This team up has potential to change a lot in the market place.
