KG7-RAID + W2K install = Boom

I am trying to put together a AMD-Abit System.

I have a KG7-RAID motherboard
BIOS Part Number 6A6S6A1AC
BIOS ID# 4J (latest according to ABIT web site)
2 256MB PC2100 Registered Crucial/Micron DIMMS
AMD Thunderbird 1.4G 266 CPU
GlobalWIN CAK38 CPU cooler
Western Digital WD400BBRTL drive
Yamaha CRW2100 16x10x40 EIDE Drive
Toshiba SD-M1502 16X/48X DVD/CD Drive
ASUS AGP-V7700 GeForce2 GTS 64DDR graphics card BIOS 2.15.01.14)

I attempted to install W2K professional.

I was under the impression I could slap everything together, tell the BIOS to
boot from CD, and I would be off and installing. This didn't work.
I then made a 4 floppy disk install set from the W2K CD.

After the 4th floppy, I got the start of the installation screen, where
it wants user responses (ENTER to continue..), then it goes blue screen,
saying MODEK_NOT_EXPECTED, or something like that, I forget, but nevermind.

I then used the Western Digital floppy to make a FAT partition with DOS on
it. I could then boot but not recognize either of the above mentioned drives,
because they did not come with driver floppies. I then disconnected those
drives and used another CD-ROM drive which I had a driver floppy for, and got
the system to recognize it.

The W2K cd said it couldn't run from DOS. @#$!@#$@#!!!

I then attempted the floppy install again. Now I get just as far, but a
different error

STOP 0X0000000A (0x00000002,0x00000002,0x00000000,0x803A4E9f)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

It also mentioned disabling BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

I then went into the BIOS settings, and disabled

VIDEO BIOS SHADOW
The RAID
Virus warning was already disabled.

No change, same error.

HELP!!!!

STOP 0X0000000A (0x00000002,0x00000002,0x00000000,0x803A4E9f)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

This looks like a Microsoft error code to me--try looking it up on Microsoft's website and see if they have any solutions (they often can at least tell you the cause).

there is a way to run win2k setup from dos, just cd to the i386 folder and run "winnt", I should warn you to run smartdrv first or it will take hours though...

No way I`m not gonna sign anything without reading it first....

I had an effortless install of Win2K on my KG7-RAID. I wouldn't blame it on the board. Any scratches on the Win2K CD??

Leave a real link

OK, I also tried this:

OK. To clarify, neither the DVD nor the Yamaha CDRW are hooked up. I have
a dell machine
which I had the drivers for. I am using that machines drive, I strung the
power and ribbon cable over to it.

Before, I wasn't using your setup, I was using IDE1 for HDD0, IDE2 for CDR,
both drives
master.

I then decided to try your idea. I reeenabled the RAID, used IDE3 (RAID)
for HDD0,
IDE1 for CDR.

I followed someone elses advice, went to the i386 directory, and started the
install.

When it rebooted, I did the F6 to load the RAID drivers. I then rebooted as
the system wanted.
With your mentioned setup, booting order of floppy, cdrom, raid, I end up
with
Blue Screen BOOT_DEVICE_INACCESSIBLE.

Allright.

I then said F it, and went back to IDE1 HDD, IDE2 CDROM.

I end in and endless loop. When I boot:
1) I select Win2000 Upgrade/Install.
2) Either do or do not load the Highpoint drivers.
3) Install loads rest of stuff in.
4) Install reboots.

Back to step 1.

Ehrumm I heard a while back that Asus graphics and Abit mobos seldom mix very well. Again, that's just what I've heard, maybe they have worked out their differences nowadays??

I am sure you have already done this, but have you tried changing out your memory? Try installing without the onboard raid? Plus need the whole blue screen error message next time. Article ID: Q130802 Like did it say Address 0xZZZZZZZZ has base at
- <driver> ?

 I know nothing that is why i am here at THG!

I have a system very similar to the one you listed. Forst, you have to set ALL boot devices to ATA100RAID to get to set up the array. From there fdisk and reformat that "drive." Then it's all standard stuff, boot from Win2K CD, run setup ,yada yada yada.; Never saw you mention running the Highpoint setup though, so I thought I'd throw this in.

Let's forget the AMD-Intel battle and focus on the real Enemy: Apple!

A friend of mine had this same problem last week. All he did was put his CD-ROM on IDE0-Master, and then put his hard drive on The ATA100-Primary-Master. Boot from the CD, push F6, install the driver for your RAID controller and continue with the install.

- I need someone to think me up a good sig...

I have the same problems with this setup blue screen with my ABIT KG7-RAID and my AthlonXP 1600+ (1.4Ghz)

The only way i was able to install the winXP Pro (new win2k) was that i changed the FSB from (10.5*133) to 10.5*100

I am still trying to solve the problem at 1050 Mhz

if you solved your problem please mail me how to THX

note: the bois update (5W) didn't solve the problem

with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL nad other errors like this
