M/B or CPU Problem

I have a Gigabyte GA-7ZXR motherboard and AMD 950 Athlon CPU, when I turn it on I get 3 short beeps which according to AMI is "Base 64K RAM failure". My question is What messed up the CPU or the MB. I tried 3 different sticks of memory, Different P/S, pulled all the card and started over. The CPU temp never got above 55 to 58C. Tried 2 different video cards, keyboard, moue, nothing helps. So what I need to know is Where is the base 64K RAM, in the CPU or on the MB. Thanks for the help, Howie

Are you sure your RAM is properly seated ALL the way in and is not backwards? Have tried a different brand of RAM? If those don't work, I think you have a bad motherboard.

The memory only fit's in one way, and when the 2 end clips lock in the memory is seated all the way. I tried 3 different memory sticks, and get the same results. Does anybody know where the 64K base ram is. On the memory stick, the MB or the CPU. Thanks, Howie

Your beeping error is referring to your RAM. Your motherboard cannot detect your RAM.

The 64K base RAM is on your M/B. Here is a basic explanation of the 1MB of RAM on a M/B and how it is utilized as conventional memory.

OK, so then it's safe to assume that if I take out all my RAM, and try to boot, I get 3 beeps. If I plug in a stick of GOOD memory and get 3 beeps, then the MB took a crap? Thanks for the help, Howie
